The research topic is the investigation of pectin degrading enzymes from Geobacillus thermodenitrificans. The goal of this investigation is to find, isolate, purify and characterize the pectin degrading enzymes from the microorganism Geobacillus thermodenitrificans, a bacterium, which was isolated from Egyptian flax-fibers under alkaline condition. The activity of these enzymes is useful for the textile industry, in order to manufacture finer and longer hemp- and flax-fibers for textile purposes. In this project I will work in field of microbiology, molecular biology, DNA and enzyme protein technology for example fermentation, kloning, gene or enzyme over-expression, enzyme electrophoresis and chromatography etc..
